Summer Jobs for Teens – advice

As the economy tightens, competition for summer jobs is at an all time high.  The good news is that there are still plenty of good summer jobs out there.  The bad news is that you have to work really hard to find them and to land them. The first thing you need to do is to have a plan and decide what you want to do.  What do you want to get out of it?  Is your summer job just for fun or are you looking to build skills that will help you down the road.   Next you have to decide what you can do, as your job prospects vary according to your age. Whatever path you choose the techniques for landing the dream

We all know about and hear about social networks all the time.  Did you know that social networks existed before MySpace? A social network is simply defined by who you know and who they know.  Be sure to tell people that you are looking for a summer job and tell them exactly what you are looking for.  The next tip is to start early.  Most companies try to wrap up their summer hiring before summer starts. If you start your summer job search in June, you will surely miss out.

The next tip is to be professional during the interviewing process. The job you are seeking might be casual but you have to be professional to land it.

Last but not least be persistent. Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, finding a job is hard work and the ones who stick with it will be the ones who land the summer dream jobs.
